Laus Lauesen

The Danish artist Laus Lauesen (actually Lauritz Martin Lauesen) traveled to Paris as a 17-year-old to draw and was employed by the Swedish daily Dagens Nyheder after returning home. Between 1949 and 1956 he worked for the Danish daily Politiken, among other things by creating advertising posters and by illustrating the newspaper publisher’s songbooks. He also did some front page illustrations. Lauesen later moved to Stockholm and worked as a freelancer for, among other things, the advertising agency Harlang og Toksvig. As a poster artist, Lauesen was above all known for his travel and advertising posters. He drew in a lively and colorful style.
