Helsinki is full of surprises for tourists and offers inspiration for locals. I gathered some symbols that are hard to miss in the city.. The granite sculptures at the Central Railway Station greet everyone who come to Helsinki by train, parks with blooming Rhododendrons and cherry trees are popular backdrops for spring photo shoots, both the library Oodi library and the museum Amos Rex are always ready to surprise you with their beautiful architecture and modern interiors, and Helsinki Cathedral and Sibelius monument are part of the traditional must-sees of Helsinki. But be aware, your lovely time exploring Helsinki can be interrupted by agile gulls that are always hunting for food!

My personal Helsinki looks a little bit different. I prefer walking through the busy Aleksanterinkatu to Katajanokka and spend time there, just looking at the sea, the ships and the jugend buildings… Helsinki is a very cozy city where you can both get new, exciting experiences as well as relax in silence overlooking the vast expanses where the sea merges with the sky.

Surely travel posters can’t simply remain a cry from the past?

Absolutely not. We live in a completely visual world where the picture is stronger than ever. That’s why the following question hit us: How would contemporary artists depict Finland of today?

We could not let that thought go, so since 2016 we continuously arrange international travel poster contests and we’ve also asked specific graphic designers and artists to create new Finnish travel posters for us.

So now Finland once again attracts travellers with glamour and cries of joy from paradise. With the help of the travel poster!
