Olavi Vepsäläinen

The graphic designer and artist Olavi Vepsäläinen studied at the Institute of Industrial Arts from 1946 until 1952. His first job was with the artistic division of the Bank of Finland’s security printing house, where he planned and drew over forty stamps.

During his years at the printing house, Vepsäläinen designed both book jackets and exhibited his paintings. In 1968, he left his job at the Bank of Finland’s security printing house in order to concentrate on his own art. Olavi Vepsäläinen was granted a state art pension in 1987.
