The artist presents herself:
I am an illustrator, surface designer and children’s book author based in Helsinki, Finland. Driven by a constant fascination with modularity, I am inspired by colour combinations and patterns found in our surroundings. Starting with hand drawn or ink painted elements, I complete the final illustrations and surface pattern designs digitally. My work blends playful shapes with the colours affected by the Nordic light conditions. All taken with a spoonful of humour.
In the past 10 years, I have been working for the likes of Hakola Furniture Company, WSOY, Fisher-Price Ltd., Thames&Hudson, Design Museum Helsinki, Helsinki Design Week, Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Paperchase, Come to Finland Publishing Ab Oy. All my work has a unique tongue-in-cheek style.
I come from a creative family – interior designer mother, furniture designer father – and I’m an alumnus of both the Fine Art Academy of Hungary as well as the Aalto University in Helsinki.
In addition to working as an independent designer, I am part of Etana Editions, a curious mix of an independent picture book publisher and a design studio.
I create work of various scale from commercial to non-profit, develop design concepts for print, exhibitions and events. I believe that illustrations and objects made with care and playfulness will light up our curiosity.
